Hey all, just trying to get some advice on creating a player profile for my son to include in an email to college coaches. Is there a website or app that i can go to to create a profile with the information coaches are looking for..ie Height, weight, class year, measuarables etc. I would also want to add video. I have a link from a showcase he did with PBR to add to the email but I would really like to create my own for him. Is this something anybody's seen or done in the past. Thanks

I’m not sure I’m understanding what you’re asking but my sons just introduced themselves with their names to HCs and RCs in email subject lines plus class, position, size, and speed, then a paragraph about themselves with embedded videos.

On many programs’ websites there is a link to Recruitspot which is a template of sorts.

full disclosure: my guys are D3s. The process might be different for other levels.
I’m sure there’s a wide variety of approaches.

Put the names and contact info for both high school and travel coaches.

GPA and SAT/ACT should be included.

Upload video to youtube, and provide a link in the email (or links to the PBR video)

It's not that much information; why set up a profile somewhere else?  Just include the information in emails, in a clear and straightforward way that makes it easy to see.

Your son is a fifteen year old freshman. Unfortunately, there’s nothing to measure his development this year. Has anyone told you he’s a D1 prospect? Does he have D1 skills? D1 Metrics? How projectable is he? Are top travel programs recruiting him?

If he’s not a D1 prospect you’re way ahead of the game. Most D2 and D3 recruiting occurs the summer before senior year. Once past the top 100 D1’s (there are 300) a lot of recruiting occurs summer before senior year.

If a kid is a D1 prospect he will likely be told by a baseball person. You need to build a business plan based on his targets. You don’t want to throw spaghetti off the wall to see what sticks. Figure out what conferences he could legitimately compete in college ball. Then go through the schools in the conference looking for educational, baseball, financial, social and cultural fits. Fifty colleges is not too many. The list will change. Some won’t be interested in him. Some he will lose interest in as he learns more about them.

Until the right time it’s advisable to participate in a low cost, local event to get the feel for how the process works and how he fits in against other local kids. Fifteen can be a tough age to clarify skill level. A lot of kids haven’t filled out yet.

If you add video keep it under two minutes. Don’t make a highlight film. Make a skills film. Show going to his right, left, forward and back fielding along with the throw. Show some quality swings.

And no background music.

And maybe because my kids weren’t d1 prospects no one watched their videos past the 45 second mark. ( there are sites that will give you the demographics  of a video’s viewers.  Because of that limited attention span front load the best stuff, don’t build up to it.

We made one for my son and it was well received. Based on what schools were asking for in their questionnaires. He included, ht. wght, GPA, etc NCAA Profile ID, PG Profile ID and link, records, links to videos, awards, tweets from 3rd party with videos, Multi-sport athlete coaches, phones and emails, Travel teams, etc.

Feedback was very good as this was one stop shop for my son and he would email out to schools he was interested in with a personalized note about each school/program.

Some responded, some didn't.

He also used this to get recruited to East Cobb for the fall as our local travel team wasn't going to the WWBAs in Ft Meyers or Jupiter. Multiple Nationally Ranked teams responded and wanted him to come pitch for them.
He ended up on East Cobb Astros, did awesome at both WWBAs. Got lots of activity from schools on his list from the summer, but WWBA performances really ramped that up.  He committed within less than a month of Jupiter.

Definitely worth doing and providing. I don't think it hurt his communication with coaches.

Most really liked and commented on his basketball dunking videos. So if multi sport athlete, but sure to include videos that show athleticism.
