Anyone got any playoff predictions? Almost impossible to pick a champ but I'll go with Thousand Oaks based on pitching depth. Newbury Park could do well depending on the matchups they get and Royal and Simi could win some games depending on who they run into during the first round.

Of course Lakewood and Wilson both have a great shot. In Div II I'll go with El Toro and West Torrance.

Looks like Simi has a decent first round draw, Royal has a tough first round draw, but they have a shot, Newbury Park has a decent first round draw and TO should be able to make it to the 3rd round before being seriously tested, although anything can happen in the playoffs, especially when teams run into a strong pitcher they've never seen before.

Here's my predictions for the CIF-SS Div I 1st round winners:

Lakewood W
El Dorado W
Mater Dei W
Newbury Park L
Los Alamitos L
LB Jordan L
Canyon/A W
Royal L
LB Wilson W
Simi W
Edison W
El Modena W
Capistrano Valley W
Esperanza W
Lutheran (changed 5/16 after looking at league records) L
TO W

These are more guesses than predictions, with a decided home league bias, but let's see how they come out.

It'll also be interesting to see which league wins the most games. I'll go with the Moore league followed by the Marmonte league because they are both strong leagues and both have 4 teams in the tournament.

Here's a look at how the leagues in Div I rank:

1. Marmonte +21
Playoff Record 3-4
2. Moore +18
Playoff Record
4-3
3. South Coast +17
Playoff Record 3-4
4. Sunset +9
Playoff Record 4-2
5. Mt. View +8
Playoff Record 0-3
6. Foothill +7
Playoff Record 2-3
7. Trinity +5
Playoff Record 3-2
8. Century +4
Playoff Record 7-2
8. Inland Valley +4

These are simply the aggregate regular season won-lost records of the leagues. It will be interesting to see how they match up with how the leagues do in the playoffs.
