Thanks 22and25. The Fairlife shakes have Carrageenan in them. The trainer told us to avoid anything with that ingredient. Problem is most ready-to-drink shakes have that ingredient.

The evidence against Carrageenan is rather obscure.  There have been zero human studies and the studies used to raise concern are related to toxicity of degraded samples in cell cultures. I find it fascinating when trainers, doctors, nutritionist, etc….latch onto anecdotal information and it becomes part of their absolutes when guiding patients/clients.

Yes it could be CYA-ism or an alarmist level of precaution. However a lot of promising compounds die on the vine when they make cell lines sick or die.

Yep.

Hey did you know that if they give 'X' to a culture at 500000x what the human body would ever be exposed to that something bad happens?

Wow knock me over with a feather.

We use the little cups that are normally used for jello shots. We put the scoop of powder in there. When son wants a shake, he drinks down a water bottle to half way point. Pours the cup of powder in the bottle and shakes. Brings home empty water bottles in his backpack if he has room. Clean out the water bottles and repeat. Just another option.

My son does this as well.  But one thing he better adjust to early is they have to clean the bottles out ASAP, because if you let them sit when you open them they smell like hot garbage.
