Just read where former Allen catcher Preston Paramore was injured this weekend against USC. From the reports I can't really figure out how it happend other than he was moving to catch a pitch and it occurred. Last I heard it was not broken, but the knee cap has been dislocated. Preston has really come into his own at Arizona State: He was named team captain this year and is in the running for the Johnny Bench Award for the nations best catcher. Great player who plays the game with passion and respect. Here's the news article from Monday.

Injury to ASU's Paramore not as severe as feared

Dan Zeiger, Tribune
The Arizona State baseball team took a relieving deep breath on Monday, as catcher Petey Paramore was diagnosed with a dislocated joint in his left knee that will likely sideline him for two to three weeks.

The worst was feared after Paramore, a junior All-America candidate and potential first-round draft pick, left Sunday's game against Southern California with what was first believed to be a season-ending broken leg or knee injury.

"It's a lot better than what we thought," coach Pat Murphy said. "I'm really, really thankful."

Murphy said that the knee joint reset itself after disclocating as Paramore set to return the ball to reliever Reyes Dorado in the eighth inning of top-ranked ASU's 5-2 win. Paramore (.349, one home run, 19 RBIs, 29 walks this season) could have limited pain, but there is a risk in returning too soon.

"If he can handle the pain -- and Petey knows he can -- he could be ready (today)," Murphy said. "But the doctors say that if there's another subluxation of that joint in the next two or three weeks, it could be dangerous."

Kiel Roling, Paramore's partner in a catcher-designated hitter rotation ASU has utilized since the start of the 2007 season, will "catch every inning" until Paramore returns, Murphy said. Outfielder Ryan Sontag will assume the DH duties.

The Sun Devils (25-1) face Wofford today and Wednesday before embarking on their first road trip of the year, a three-game series at Pac-10 foe Stanford, this weekend.
