Congratulations to CATCHERSDAD and son, Alex Burg. I just read that after a year with The Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League, Alex has been signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Woo-Hoo!!!

Can you still say he's a great kid if he is now 30? I think so.

Always great to hear news like this, thanks for sharing.  Congrats to Alex, CatchersDad + family!

Indeed huge congrats to Alex!  TMM_Dad, CatchersDad, and I communicated last season as our sons played in the Atlantic League one time or another.  All the best to Tim Melville, Alex Burg and their families!

Huge congrats!!

...and yes, you can still say "he's a great kid!" at 30!!! (think that makes us "ancient old timers", though...but, then again all these wrinkles, paunches, & sags & bags have become our badges of honor!

David caught up with Alex at Driveline in December. They were teammates at Clemson over 10 years ago.

If anyone wants to know one of the really good things about playing college ball, thats it.

Thanks to all! Our family is grateful for all of the baseball friends we have been impacted by! It has been an amazing off season! Our thanks to Kyle at Driveline Baseball, Alex was able to catch a number of pitchers including Tim Lincecum for their tryouts and that exposure was key! Thanks again to all here who really care to educate and learn from this wonderful site!

Kyle loves Alex. Lots of good things going on at Driveline for sure!!!

Of all the forums on this site, this is one I have never read. But I want to chime in here, as I give Alex Burg credit for being the first guy that actually worked with my son on his hitting at 9 or 10. I've enjoyed a warm relationship with him, and through him met Catchersdad and mom and enjoy calling them friends. Such loving, endearing people and role models for me as a baseball parent. I've already shared this photo with another HSBBW parent and am happy to repost it here:
