08catcher,
Saw David Adams and his dad a few weeks ago in Jacksonville, I am not surprised he was not drafted lower.
Their expectations were pretty high, he has a great opportunity to play at an ACC school. He has a great opportunity to improve his draft status in three years. Teams were not going to draft him lower and have him say no if the price was not right. A sort of catch all when you fall in the 6th-10th round projection.

Just an example of how nuts this whole process is come draft day.

You are exactly right. The draft is a funny thing and kids drop for lots of reasons. Not always money. Both players that i mentioned expected their kids to go top 5 rounds, but were not ruling out 5-10. Nobody pulled the trigger. it happens every year. At least they were drafted and have options.

Zach Duke was a 20th rounder because of signablity issues and ended up signing and is now the #1 prospect in the Pirates organization. The #4 was a 28th rounder out of hs.

Many more players drop in the draft rather than raise their stock after 3 years. Look at this years draft. There are also 4 first rounders this year that did not draft well out of hs and now are going to be millionaires. My favorite story is Cliff Pennington from Texas A@M. Not drafted out of hs and now signed for 1.45mill as the 21st pick.

It is like Vegas, all a cr*ap shoot.
