Dr Fauci threw out the first pitch at the Nationals game tonight. He didn’t come within six feet of the catcher with his throw. Just a bit outside!

Looked like the 50 cent first pitch
They say he was attempting to flatten the curve......
He should've politely declined the offer. That was a truly pathetic effort.
Would John Kruk have ducked? ;-)
Did you notice that he threw a spitball?! Of all the nerve! Disgusting!!
The pitch will be retracted today and a new pitch will come out...with the caveat that there still might be another new pitch, because, well, it's fluid.
The doctor was obviously studying his microbiology while his classmates were at Little League practice
Yeah, and the pitch confirmed his political leaning- way left. The President will have his try (first pitch) at the Yankees opener. He was seen playing catch with Mario Rivera yesterday.
That pitch setback back both baseball and medicine. In fact, I don't believe he was born in NYC. Show me his birth certificate
Ten worst first pitches of all time with video ...
His pitching accuracy rivals his medical predictions. ....both all over the place and no one calling balls or strikes.
On the plus side he can't hurt anybody at an empty park with a bunch of professionals socially distanced wearing masks and gloves.
Fauci literally wrote the book on Internal Medicine and is one of the leading experts in the world in Infectious Disease. He is responsible for much of the progress that has been made on HIV. Covid 19 is a novel virus (novel as in new, for those who spent more time on the LL field than in the microbiology lab) and much research is required before completely clear answers can be given. I get that some of this is good natured fun regarding an errant first pitch. But he has devoted his life to public service and deserves respect. Be careful not to join in too gleefully when an authoritarian government starts attacking the scientists. History has shown us that this ends badly.

So the moral of your post is that when we talk about the virus in a HS Baseball forum, the blogging virologists of the world can laugh at and mock our lack of virology skills and that's OK? Works for me ;-) Is there a link that we can post on their specialty? This is a baseball site that's been craving baseball action - he's not the first one to be mocked for his lack of baseball skills.

You just described who Fauci used to be. For the last two and a half decades he’s been an unelected political bureaucrat.
The problem with Fauci is what is wrong with a lot of the young people today. Their parents said "Do as I say not as I do." Now they are messed up kids who follow messed up people. Fauci was caught redhanded not doing what he has said we need to do and rather than taking responsibility he made an excuse. Just man up and say "I can't throw a baseball and (either I lied to you or I should have had my mask on.) I'm leaning toward the first. If you needed the mask on while on the mound you need the mask on while in the stands.
MLB insisted Fauci wear the mask on the mound to prevent him from throwing a Gaylord Perry-esque spitball. MLB is still reeling from the delayed start due to theblabor strife and did not want to exasperate things with Tony tossing a loaded ball. Sadly, the outcome clearly proved it wasn't needed.
