Oops, forgot all about Bourjos.
dswann,
He really wasn't a good investment for the Cards or any other NL team going forward. I think he'll be DH'ing a lot more and a lot sooner than Angels fans realize. Remember he's had a history of UCL issues. He probably would've had to lose a season at some point to stay with the Cards while with the Angels once the arm gets too bad he'll simply go to being a full time DH and he can avoid surgery. That point should also move out a bit given that they'll probably DH him now and then to rest the arm.
And what do the Mariners do, pick up a Rule V player and a minor league pitcher. Boy looks like Mariners GM is really opening up that wallet! With big spenders Angels, why try to compete, just use the farm boys and collect the gate receipts.

Pop Up Hitter dad,
As I'm sure you know, the wallet that has to open, doesn't belong to the GM.
Th epick up was 3 fold:
1) Hurt the Rangers - CJ Wilson helped with that. Taking their aces and making him your #3. Wow!
2) Connect with the Latino community in LA - If Pujols can generate $150MM in revenue from the Latino community over 10 years, they only have to make up $100MM. They may be able to do the with a WS title or 2.
Keep in mind, none of this would have been possible if not for the LARGE TV deal the Angels picked up last year.
My concern is Albert switching leagues and not being "Albert". I think he will struggle a little the first year and then be The Machine after that.

Pujols got almost what he wanted, which was to be the highest paid Latino player in the game.
So Alex Rodriguez is not Latino?

Yes I was using that as an example, it is the owner/s that make that call.
it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to a new league
TRhit,
Remember back in 1966 when Frank Robinson went from the NL to the AL because the Cincinnati GM thought he was an "old" thirty, and he proceeded to win the Triple Crown and lead his team to the World championship. Be weird if history replayed itself with Pujols.

Interesting Factoid; After touring Safeco last year I was surprised to learn that the Mariners owner has never been to a game or even the field. Good luck with that wallet.
