Recruiting questions from high school players and parents answered by college coaches is hard to find. I am in the process of making a video with 25+ college coaches.  The basis of the video is coaches answering questions about recruiting.  Im trying to formulate a list of the most popular questions a high school player and parent want answered.

I would be greatly appreciative if some high school players/parents gave suggestions on questions they want answered.

My son and I attended a few of your showcases this summer. If anyone out there is looking for some good exposure, The Complete Showcase is good organization to check out. Thanks to this site I knew most of the answers to my questions when I arrived but I did listen to the Q&A with the coaches during the showcase. Most of the question I heard concerned: How to contact coaches, when to contact coaches, when do coaches do their recruiting, how many scholarships does each school/division have for baseball, will coaches contact players after the showcase, what are coaches looking for in a player, etc. Many of the same questions that have been asked and answered on this site. lol

Agree with ABC.  Questions are often focused on the mechanics of the recruiting process.  This is important, but you can find that info online if you really look.  What would be more interesting to me is what, specifically, these coaches are looking for in evaluating, comparing, and slotting players in each position group... ie pitchers, catchers, MIFs, hitters, corners, etc.

Coaches often answer that with things like character, integrity, and good grades.  I don't doubt that this is genuinely important to them, but it's sort of a given in my mind.  Obviously they want good character guys and guys without grade issues.  My son has strong character and strong grades, but no one is going to recruit him based on this.  So what would be interesting to know is A) what are the metrics and measurables that they look for and what is the acceptable or worakble range of these by position/skill set; and B) what advice would they offer HS aged players trying to work their way to the college level... what types of training, instruction, camps, etc would they recommend.

Just a couple of thoughts per your question.

Some thoughts I have is:

1. how many do they recruit for each position (ie; RHP vs LHP or MIF, catcher, etc)

2. what is a typical roster like as far as positions - might be the same question as above

3. how do you spread that out over 4 years of eligibility? Such do you recruit a SS every other year but not on opposite years, only 2 - 3 RHP every pitcher every year etc
