I have a pretty good idea what website it is. My son is also a sophomore and been a member on the site for a year or so. We actually paid a small fee to have a lifetime "upgrade". We've gotten a lot of invites to camps and a few emails asking us to fill out "prospect questionaires"...which ultimately have led to invites to more camps....lol. PM me if you'd like to know if we're talking about the same site.

Why is this a secret?

Be Recruited has been extensively commented on in these threads. Its small money for establishing a good storage point for videos and information. Whether or not a coach 'follows' a player it provides a web location to which you can refer coaches.

There are no added services or come-ons that I found while using it the past two years, other than the well-worthwhile $60 lifetime upgrade.

Well said.
I don't post much here...and I wasn't sure if it was "ok" to post about other sites. I was speaking of Berecruited in my earlier post. I'll agree that for $60, it's not a bad investment. I don't get emails from them trying to sell me stuff or get me to pay more. We do get emails to camps, etc, but those contacts, whether direct or not, are why we signed up in the first place. At this point, with my son being a sophomore, I don't think we've gotten anything "serious" from it....but for $60, I certainly don't have any complaints either.
Regardless of what site you use, everything should add value. The issue becomes, what is value? Not one recruiting site I've seen will actually get your son a scholarship by itself, however, some of the people I know on certain sites do go the extra mile because they themselves have relationships to help your son. That is the key. You have to remember that baseball is a small world. college coaches call me all the time to ask about a certain kid who may not even be in our organization because we tell the truth to them and they trust our background if we say a player is D1 or D3, etc. than he is.
As far as how that relates to the college recruiting sites means that the person running it may be an excellent marketer of their site but not do much more than allow you to use it as an online video or profile updating service. This does have inherent value to anyone though because not all schools your son may be interested in have the budget to come see you on the west coast if they are in Georgia but the video may at least spark enough interest so the coach will then call someone he knows to get further details about your boy.
The key for the dad/player is to keep the video updated and short(90 seconds to 2 minutes) and also have a couple key references(coaches/scouts/instructors) who are trusted in the baseball world so if a college coach wants to know more, they have someone they can call to vouch for the player or give further details. Most of the college coaches/pro scouts I talk to still want to see the player for themselves through tournaments/showcases but generally if they see something on video they like(swing, build, athleticism, etc.) it will at least get the process rolling to the next step so make sure whatever site you use, that the vido is professional looking and something that will leave a good impression. The final thing I would say is be pro-active in ALL steps regarding the CR process but not over-bearing...hope this helps.

First of all, this does not pertain to the site mentioned above.

I was doing a search for something today and ran across a web based baseball recruiting site. Nothing out of the ordinary until I read what they had to offer.

Here is part of what I read.…

We currently have contact information for over 20,000 college coaches and staff members at tens of thousands of colleges throughout the U.S.

Anyway, that kind of threw me for a loop, so I checked it out. Currently there are 1,539 colleges that have baseball programs. That includes every division , NCAA, NAIA, and Junior College.
College Baseball Teams

Question… Tens of thousands of colleges throughout the U.S., Really????

After you Create a Profile, we do everything in our power to promote your it and put your abilities in front of the eyes of college coaches.

Question… How can anyone truly promote someone’s ability if they have never seen that ability?

I’m not saying this company is no good, but I don’t get it!

PG I could understand the number if they were not just referring to baseball but all college sports but just baseball do not get it

Your second question is a very good one.
