You guys crack me up. Some here poop on other Dads that admit that they look at radar guns, yet somehow they all know exactly how fast their own son threw.

The only way I know (roughly) how fast my sons throw is what they tell me from their own coaches (college and pro). Even with that, I couldn't tell you much more than 'about XX' or in the case of the pro son what the scoreboard gun says.

So...I dunno about your 'exactly' assertion.
A friend of mine had his grandson in the building last night. The cages are set up with radar gun display.

Gramps bet his 9 year old grandson $5 that he couldn't throw 30 mph. The little guy threw it 36 mph and pocketed the 5 bucks.

Doesn't every boy and his dad want to know?

For those that blame the radar gun for arm injuries... TJ or other arm injuries to pitchers who threw in our building over the past 17 years... ZERO! (as far as we know). That does include all the local pitchers, though. Several that have been drafted or gone off to college and later got injured.

Truth is... sooner or later... If they pitch long enough... Most all of them get injured. With or without the radar gun.

I don't blame radar guns for injuries at all. Nor do I think that throwing into a radar gun at a carnival, ballpark or PG's facility at any age is silly.

But I do find it amusing (as stated earlier) when I see dads of 10-year olds gunning their kids at the local fields.

Just think thats funny. There was a dad who used to radar-gun the kids on my younger son's team...that I coached...race over to try and tell me velos...thought that was funny too. What am I supposed to do with, "He's throwing 55 today!"????

LOL, and I have some beach front property in Arizona to sell you if you believe this.

When my son was in HS I gunned many games (in very talent rich Calif.) and I can't tell you how many times I had dad's tell me how hard their kids were throwing and universally it was 7MPH slower than the stalker.
Our 14U team had a bunch of kids 6'1" to 6'3". When some lesser teams showed up for the game they were shocked when looking at our kids. I'll be the first person to say "no, he's not throwing x" when I hear a ridiculous speed. I can come close by eye. I've seen enough college games to know when a high school kid isn't throwing as hard as someone is claiming.

Whatever you say TG, whatever you say.

So, where are all these studs playing now? I guess you can tell me they all play in the ACC, I have now way to know.
A couple are still in high school. I'm not close enough to know where they're going. Three are pitching at mid majors. Two are pitching D3. Two are position players in college. All but two were early bloomers. They didn't get much bigger. They will probably learn how to throw harder in college.
