My son received a letter from a school he had expressed an interest in. The Coach wanted some additonal information. He wanted to know the size of the bat my son uses and how much he can bench press. Why would these matter?

One can only guess but I assume it is this coach’s method of profiling your son. Sounds as if he hasn’t seen your son play and trying to determine what type of hitter he is --- or can be.

I thought something like that. I just have read so much about how the bench press is good/not good for baseball players. Always reading about working the back muscles more etc.
