It's, I agree Whole Heartedly that seeing player's in real game situation's is one of the best way's to evaluate talent.
All I'm saying is, if you are going to attend Showcases as a mean's of getting Scouted/Recruited.
Be prepared, and having a positive attitude should be at the top of your list. EH
EH,
No doubt being prepared and having the right attitude is really important.
As for the showcases - IMO - look for the ones - like PG (national) and College Select (regional) - and some others that have alot of game time involved.
The more game time the better IMO.

Coach Merc is involved with a regional showcase here in the Northeast. If he's involved, it will be first-rate. He could provide the information that I don't have.
Two and a half years since this thread started and one thing happened that is really cool. Dustin Pedroia is in the big leagues with the Red Sox......it shows that little gamers get to the big leagues too.
bbscout,
Looking back at the old posts I've got to say - nice call.

PG deserves all the praise it gets in regards to ranking players.
That being said, parents who feel their son has been slighted should remember that no process is perfect. While PG does a great job, everyone makes mistakes. And with them, I have to suspect their mistakes aren't rating a "9" kid a "6" or vice-versa. I have to think, from what I've seen, that any mistakes are along the lines of a kid being a 7.5 instead of a 7 or 6.5. Just my opinion. That's pretty darned good!
I believe any kid should treat a subpar rating as a line from which they should begin their improvement. If they cite a weakness, a player should do his best to fix it or overcome it.
Too many kids like to practice their strengths rather than do something about their weaknesses.
If this was an exact science then Mike Piazza would've been drafted in the first round and (fill in your favorite bust here) wouldn't have been drafted at all.
