To be safe at the plate you need to get on and since you have already expressed your feelings about hitting is not that important----

HOW THE HELL DO YOU SCORE IF YOU CANNOT GET ON BASE???

You can phone me and discuss your problems if you wish-- I have offered this before but you never took me up on it

CALL me and lets talk about it--- words on a screen may not ou justice--It is apparent that I have a burr under your saddle-- call and talk one on one instead of in an open foum--it will be between you

Watch your language, first of all, and then take a look at the vote on the weakest tool. You will find that speed seems to be a problem for most of the boys. Try reading this next line, because you keep missing it somehow. THE BETTER PLAYERS IN HIGH SCHOOL CAN ALL HIT. That is why they are the better players. The other tools separate the men from the boys.

P.S. In an open forum such as this we might be able to get some objective viewpoints. I don't need to be beat up in a conversation with you. I joined a forum to be anonymous and to extract, through whatever means, the info that I am looking for.

Coach Murray-
It is just a poll. Calm down. What are you coaches and evaluators afraid of?

Are there any HS players' parents on this site or is everyone a part of some organization promoting themselves?

P.S. Do you realize that I am just a User ID, that I only exist in cyberspace, much like Simone in the movie of the same name?

Limon84, before I take the poll, I have two request. First, please list your son's strengths in decending order 5 to 1, one would be his best strength. Secondly, what is your goal with this whole thread??? I had never seen your screen name before this morning (stumbled over to this thread from Texas forum for first time), now when I see it, it is in the context of controversey.

If you want to learn, I would suggest you watch, read and ask simple questions. Many coaches, scouts and former players of the game on this website, who can talk hours about baseball. I do not consider myself one of those but rather one who watches, reads and ask simple questions.

one request down, one to go.

No doubt you are taking abuse and I am not totally clued in to your entire agenda like others, however I am interested in what your goal is with this thread. Based on what I have read, you are trying to justify your son's exsistance in baseball because of foot speed. That's great, however posters here are not the one's you or your son have to convince.

As I said before, I know little about the game compared to many on here. I learn more about the game each day because of posters here and the baseball men I hang with.

I have pontificated enough, I will now complete your survey.
kirk-

I am just trying to show that most ballplayers lack foot speed. Although it is not a hidden agenda, it all started when my son attended a showcase and gained attention because of his time in the 60 yd. dash. Now the braintrust on the website comes to the conclusion that because he can run, he can't hit. But au contraire, (i.e. French for on the contrary), he is a very good hitter. I list hitting as his weakest tool because if there were really that many good hitters out there, they would be playing in the MLB.

I am not trying to convince anyone of my son's existence in baseball as you put it. But there are some here who just won't let me have my own opinion without ripping into me. I felt that the results of this poll would shed light on what players need to work on most and all would benefit by that knowledge.

Beam me up, Scotty!!
limon84, I am an educated man, so please don't patronize me (au contraire). I said what I said without insulting you. Also, I asked you to rank your son's 5 strengths because anybody who knows anything about baseball has heard of the "5 tools".

If your son's hitting is his weakest tool, this doesn't mean his hiiting is weak. However, you seem very quick to defend his hitting. This will make any newcomer ask questions.

As an objective poster, by veiwing your son's strengths, I would say (WITHOUT SEEING YOUR SON) that he is a pitcher. I say this because usually (I am assuming here) the kids with strong arms, your son's number one strength, who can hit (you say he can) are also your power hitters. However, you list hitting and hitting for power his two weakest strenths.

Now I may be way off base, but if your son is a "5 tool" player. Then what do you have to worry about, start planning your retirement, because when he complete's HS he will be a first rounder.
