Heres my 2 cents

You dont need a Pro preffered or any other glove that costs 200+dollars to be good.If you have a glove for 100 dollars,or 80 dollars,if you are a good player, you will make the play. The glove wont make the play for you.

Now I do have a Rawlings Heart of the hide and that costed 150$ but the thing is I would have been equally as satisfied with my old glove, which costed 75$.

Price doesnt make the glove, the player who uses it does.
Yeah, it's not necessary, but it is fun. I have never had a glove that costed more than 100 bucks, they have all been about 50 bucks or so, except my mitt, which is a Rawlings Gold Glove Catchers mitt that costs like 90 bucks or so. I am probably gonna go shell out the money for the Pro Preferred, just so I can be sure it will last me the next 3 years of high school baseball, taking all the abuse of games and practices, but I have heard that Kip leather breaks down faster than rgular steerhide. If so, I would probably rather get a Heart of the Hide glove or the equivalent in another brand. Is this true, or will a properly cared for Kip mit last through high school? I know Paul LoDuca has been using his pro preferred mitt for 3 or 4 years, and it is still in great shape, it may be just for games but its 150 games a year, which is more time than I will spend the rest of high school. SO, since I have a relatively large budget, and am willing to fork out the cash, which one is the better buy, the Pro Preferred Kip Leather or Heart of the Hide Steerhide models?
As gloveman said on a pervious post,

"Pro grade steerhide is thick tough leather, and it is traditional baseball glove leather.

Kip leather is a bit thinner, lighter, but is not as durable as steerhide. Kip leather gloves tend to break down and loose thier shape pretty rapidly compared to a properly cared for steerhide glove.

If you like spending $249 every year then go for the kip leather, if you'd like a glove that lasts for 3 or more years go with a pro level steerhide (Wilson A2000, Rawlings Heart of the Hide, Mizuno Pro, Akadema Professional Series, Kelley ProLine).

Funny thing is, kip leather ususally costs less for the manufacturer thank pro grade steerhide, yet they charge more for it."
