Kind of a stab in the dark, isn't it Darrell? He could be Bob or Joe, Tony or Mike, Dan or Achmed...even Richard or Dick.

What is the matter with you??? Roll Eyes

I'm desperate! Most of the boys in our school are afraid of me and so, the kid's not happy with Dad. Wink Big Grin

Coach?!?! It wasn't too long ago that you "offered" your daughter to my 2011.

What's going on here? I thought we had something special going???

She won't show up on one of those Bachelor reality shows will she?

...and if I want to laugh, I'll read one of B25's posts.

I'm guilty of trying to get either or both of my twin daughters to hook up with one of infidel_son's teammate$.

Oh, and welcome back, Marlins.

Biggerpapi, sorry, note again DESPERATION! I'll send her up to your area on a college visit. She doesn't have to know what college. Look for the girl with all the tatooes and the body piercings. Of course the "Softball Rules" tatoo was approved by Dad!

My room mate in college always used to look for the girls with tatoos....said he liked the ones that did stuff that they would regret later.....

Just an update, he is on his third wife... Roll Eyes
Marlins -- Here's to hoping you made a positive impression on your Varsity Coach.

My son is a 2011 LHP/1B. He just set up his own ID on this site today. I'll point him to your post. Maybe you guys can share tips and experiences.

By any chance, were you playing in Gainesville, FL last weekend? My son played in the Winter Nationals down there with a national travel team he plays with.
TPM,

I think hs coach involvement has changed in the last couple of years in Florida. See excerpt from Policy 24 from the FHSAA handbook:

3. During the off-season, a coach or prospective coach of any member
school may be involved with a non-school team in a sport that he/she coaches
provided the non-school team meets the following requirements:
(a) The team must be affiliated with an outside agency promoting athletic
participation opportunities such as, but not limited to:
Baseball – Babe Ruth, American Legion, city/county leagues
Basketball – AAU, USA, USOC
Golf – USGA, AJGA
S****r – FIFA, Youth leagues
Softball – ASA, USSSA
Swimming & Diving – USS, NISCA, ASCA, CSCAA, AAU
Tennis – FTA, USTA, USOC, ITF
Track & Field – USA, AAU
Volleyball – USVBA, USOC, USA, AVA
Wrestling – USA, AAU
(b) Participation must include a published schedule of competition.
(c) All fees or assessment for participation must be documented.
(d) Participation shall be voluntary and shall not be required, either directly
or indirectly, for membership on an interscholastic team.

I realize that the rule has changed.

#3 states he may be involved with a non school team.

I was just wondering why JV and Varsity just finished fall practice.....

Fall ball has A and B teams that are formed in a county league in our area. We have similar teams from Legion played in the summer. The league is run in accordance with FHSAA rules.

Actually it keeps the kids who don't play other sports in a structured program with their friends, allows more to participate, and has lessened the number of kids getting into trouble. I think the FHSAA made a wise decision allowing the high school coaches to be involved with their kids year round.
There is one major problem here, as I see it. The players do not get the benefit of playing for two or three coaches and learning different things.

None of us as coaches, know all the answers. Being exposed to the thoughts of two or three coaches can help a player, provided all the coaches know what they are talking about

No, we weren't.

I don't know how they were able to get practices in at this time of year, but they did. I'm 100% sure it's not illegal. We were only allowed to do bullpens, and baserunning.
