Recruiting process

I am a high school junior (2011). My summer coaches, who played up through minor leagues and coached college baseball, have told me i can play DII and maybe a small DI. I was just wondering when i should start contacting coaches of the schools i am interested in attending? Also, is it too early to check rosters to see what schools would be looking for my postion?
