I am a confessed newbie, so I don't know if this post belongs here, but I have some questions & there seems to be alot of knowledge in this forum.

When is it allowable for a prospect to be contacted by scouts & recruiters? I have heard 6/1 of the junior year. Is that between Jr & SR. of Sph & JR.? I have an 06. He is appearantly on some lists because we get some invites to showcases & camps. I am unsure when I should start to try to expose him more. He will play travel w/ WSA and I think his HS coach is a decent guy. I have no reason not to believe his HS coach will do his best to expose him. At this time I am unsure if my boy is of the caliber required to be looked at. I do not want to waste his & my time if it's not realistic, but I want to make all oppertunities available. How do i have him evaluated honestly?

NCB, that is an outstanding question. I feel most parents are not a very good judge of their own players ability!! It has something to do with the parents EGO and not being objective!!

The best way that I have found to have your son evaluated is to sign him up for a Showcase by a professional organization that will give him an objective evaluation. One of the best scouting organizations that I have found out there is a company call Perfect Game out of Cedar Rapids Iowa. Their staff is professional and have top tier showcases.

thanks for the input! I actually just got off the phone with the white sox academey, which is the team he's on. the guy i talked to said the scouts/recruiters would see him on that team. He actually was at a showcase they put on in December, but i guess it was only inside, I thought that was practice- told ya I was a newbie. they didn't do a 60 so i guess i'll see if he can do one at practice. I don't want to be to passive, but i think i got a good start. That Perfect game site requires a bunch of info from coach, so I'll get goin' on that. It looks like they just had an indoor showcase near here, so I'll to wait to try to get him in an outside one.
