Question for those in the "know"

A former athlete who played one year of NJCAA baseball has taken a few years off from the game to focus on academics. Said player has just completed his A.S. degree at another institution and now wants to go back to original college to play his final season(JUCO guys can play 2 years, with no age restrictions)...

What must the player do or accomplish academic wise to regain eligibility after having troubles while at playing the firs go around?

Does the fact he accomplished the A.S. degree have an affect on his eligibility in a positive way?

Having an AA degree doesn't directly affect eligibility, but in order to get the degree, he very likely did the things needed to be eligible. The actual requirements are too long to list here, but the NJCAA eligibility pamphlet has fairly clear statements of the rules. See sections 4.D and 4.E. See also section 10, which deals with transfer students.

I doubt that there would be an academic eligibility problem.

I guess my biggest question would be if the player originally had a 1.5 GPA and has since obtained his AS at another institution, would those credits gained at the new school be used to determine is GPA once he transfers back?

The way I read the rules...

As long as the player has a 2.0 GPA and has passed/taken 12 credit hours the previous semester he can play a second season...assuming he has accumulated 24 credit hours in total.
