On 3/31 DK was released from the STL Cardinals.
He had been in rehab and not thrown from a mound during spring training. I don't want to get into what did or didn't happen, that is between player and organization as to why he never threw one pitch, and sometimes relationships need to end.

I waited until today to post as DK had to fly to NYC to get clearance from his doctors that he could begin working out for teams.

I am sure that most of you understand that this is a business, a very tough one and FWIW, it's even tougher when you work for a team that is in contention year after year for playoffs.

I thank all of the people that have been supportive and those that read about the release when it came out and in the recent milb transactions and wrote to ask if everything was ok.

To those that have made negative comments in private and on a message board (yes I KNOW who you are), DK may be down right now but he's not out!

For parents who one day hope that their sons will play at the highest level there are two reasons why you make it, being at the right place at the right time (luck) and remaining healthy (before you get to the top).

Meanwhile, I stand by what I have been saying for many years, enjoy the moments and don't sweat the small stuff. It's either going to work out or it's not, and you have no control over it other than to make sure that your son remains healthy and happy in his journey.

TPM I am glad to hear that DK has decided to continue to pursue baseball. He is a very talented young man, and given the right circumstances I believe he can succeed at the game at the highest level. As they say when one door closes another opens and I am sure another will open for him very soon. Best of luck.
Good luck to DK!!!!! I can't believe anyone would post anything negative about his career. He is out there every day giving his all and pushing his mind and body to an extent that many would not relate. So hard to understand the business side of baseball, especially when we are so far removed from that. This is my son's first full year and I am sure we will continue to have many ups and downs of emotions and wonder. I have had you and your son on my mind and sincerely wish him the best!
TPM,
Glad to hear your son is OK and getting a clearance from Dr. to work out. That's great. Certainly wishing the best of luck to him and hope you are doing ok too. I know it affects me when my kids experience the ups and downs life brings.

I second southernmom's reaction that it is hard to believe someone would beat on another when they are down! Just ain't right.

TPM,

Unfortunately David has had more than his share of bad luck. When healthy he has shown how good he can be. Hopefully he will hook up quickly and stay healthy for a long time.

Amen..hopefully he'll catch on when the next round of roster edits take place....in a few weeks.

this is all so true.

i'm sure dk's baseball isn't over . not until he say's so.
no matter how long they play or how far they get, still stings a little for us parents.
good fortune to him, i think he'll be fine.
Thanks everyone.

A lot of success in this game depends on luck, although some say he hasn't been lucky that may only be relative to injury. Lots of little things but nothing major that can't prevent him from playing.

However, I disagree with those that say he hasn't had much luck so far, he's had lots of opportunities some only dream about. Because he has come up short (for now) of his goal does not mean he hasn't been lucky.

Everything is relative has to whether you view things as is the glass half empty or is it half full!

As far as negative stuff said, some people just like being bullies, it makes them feel good. If you don't like me that's ok but keep your comments to yourself regarding any young player (that doesn't just include mine).

Thanks again everyone.

Thanks
