Now for my old story about him being Cut from the High School baseball program in early Feb. well we where told he was not good enough for Varsity or J.V. even after a good frost and JV seasons. Well my son went to the Stanford camp in early July 2014 and using a wood bat hit the ball hard, fielded good, showed baseball smarts ect. We filed a complaint with the coaches, only contesting  why he was not returned back to J.V.

When we received his Evaluation from Stanford, they had him at a 4.5....  above avg. high school player J.C. ability, chance to play at a 4 year college. I was told to forward this to the high school coaches, and then i was told that these Evaluations are buttered up because they do not like to hurt the kids.. I called the coach who did the Evaluation and he said no they do not do that. Anyway fast forward to Nov. and my son received contact from Trinity University and Lewis and Clark both D-3 schools. They liked what they saw from the Stanford camp The coach from L & C was really surprised to find out my son was 16 at the time of the Stanford camp and has not played at the Varsity level.  Well I hope this year will be better for him,  as you know varsity tryouts are next month and I just do not trust the coaching staff there anymore.

There is a lot more to this story, but I am hoping with all that we have been thru We can turn the page and he will finish this season as a Senior on the Varsity team....

I believe that my son proved his point on the field during the summer and fall, I would like to know what the high school coaches will say when the College coaches call to ask about my son.

I hope your kid has a better experience this year.  While there are a lot of good quality HS coaches, who know what they are doing and take the time and effort, there are the real "stinkers" too.  I am experiencing it first hand.  You can't take it personally.  Luckily baseball is one of the sports that the kids have alternatives to play on summer teams.

Best of luck to your kid.

Yep coaches come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and wits. We are going through this problem with our basketball coach, but that doesnt worry me so much because its more of a secondary sport. Now our baseball V coach... we will be having our third coach in three years and this new one... who knows.

Well some times it is not what you know,   but who you barbecue with. That is what a parent told me after asking where my son was last season. He told me this has being going on for a long time with our small town baseball program.. 17 kids showed up 3 where cut, 3 more quit and there was 13 left before they pulled up a freshman 2 days after we had a meeting about this.  Only one freshman has been pulled up in the last 10 years and he was good. This kid was average for a freshman at best, he was there more for a statement about our complaint!.

Tho its been a few years back.We had a girl that was/had been playing for the area 18U  AAU (I think) travel vollyball team. She was cut freshman and sophmore year trying out for school team. While being a starter for the 18/U team. This is going back to a time just before the explosion of all types of travel teams. It certainly was the talk around our small town( @600 Kids) for a time.V coach only lasted 3 years.Girl never played HS Vball.she did play Vsoftball starting fresh. year and BBall V 3 years.Go figure.
