This may sound too strange to be true; but, I have a buddy that has an old clothing dryer which is about half full with industrial erasers. Every day he takes a dozen balls after practice and spins them for a few minutes, they come out looking brand new.
The school probably has a buffer. If your set-up is a normal net tunnel in the gym, you probably have a pretty large area with ball scuff marks. Run the buffer over it a few times and that should take care of it. Saves your back (although I'm sure the players were going to be the labor force.)
Rob - how I wish we had a net tunnmel. That's not something we own, nor would the powers that be ever allow us to put something like that up in baketball's precious gym. At our school, baseball is the poor stepchild by far.
Krak: you might be able to find some old used carpet from a flooring guy you could lay down to cover the floor. if you've got room to store it it would save you the hassle of the ball marks.
