Rhetorical in that, I think I know what 100% of the answers are going to be. In the past 2-3 weeks a couple of things have happened. I got a voicemail message from a cousin of mine I speak to maybe 4 times a year. Played ball at a prestigious DIII school in New England back in the late 80's early 90's. His message was that he had been seeing my son's name in the paper and had heard he was a solid player and wanted to see if there was anything he could do to help him in his quest to play college ball. He had friends he used to play with who are now coaches at schools like Roger Williams, Bowdoin, Wheaton and a few more. Last weekend my son is at a graduation party for a HS teamate and his varsity coach pulled him aside and said that he had been speaking to a friend of his who was also a coach at a nice New England DIII. They talked about my son and this coach is "interested" in recruiting him on the varsity coach's word and also about "some things he's heard." It turns out that this coach is one of the coaches who is good friends with my cousin. Small world huh? Here's the question I know the answer to: Should my son just nip this karmic happening in the bud and decline to be recruited by this school because we can't seem to find an academic fit? The majors offered at the schools my cousin mentioned don't include things like athletic training, exercise physiology ect...things my son is interested in. I know I know, fuhgeddaboutit, academics first....right?
