When he stopped managing, I thought it was the end of an era. Now it really is the end of an era. I regard Earl as the best manager of my lifetime.

LOL. It did occur to me that someplace where Earl couldn't argue with umpires might be hell for him. But, better they be perfect and he goes out just to argue for the fun of it than because they were wrong, right?

I guess ol' Earl would need to have perfect ballplayers to manage in Heaven, too.
Earl had a simple out oulook on winning-pitching, defense and three run homers. He HATED to give up outs especially via sacrifice bunts or caught stealings.
