Tom Weston - aka Sweaty - was truly one of the “good guys”. The Froelich family’s thoughts and prayers are with the Weston family. ClevelandDad called me yesterday afternoon and passed on the news – thanks Dan – I was at a loss for words. We all knew Tom was sick but death is never expected. I knew Tom as a kid. My GOD life goes by fast. We had boys that were a year apart playing travel ball. I have fond memories of running into Sweaty on some distant baseball complex in Wisconsin or Illinois - spending our weekend spitting seeds and watching our kids play. He was always for family and the kids. If you were on his team or lived in his neighborhood, you were one of his. Later on, several years ago, our boys played for rival high schools in the West Suburban Silver. On one occasion both were on the bump in the last game of the season with the conference championship on the line. We both made our living in the same line of work. Two years ago I worked on his floor and would stop by Sweaty’s desk and get my daily baseball fix – we would exchange updates on all the kids we knew in the area.
He was one of a kind – one of the good guys.
