I imagine big sighs of relief from Brian Cashman and Theo Epstein. They ended up not giving up all those top prospects and saving a ton of money.

The Twins didn't get what they should have in this trade. They got 4 of the top 7 pitching prospects of the Mets, but not #1. I thought the early deals proposed by both the Red Sox and the Yanks were stronger.

The Mets got the best pitcher in the game, didn't give up their top prospect or anyone from the major league roster. Sure, they'll pay through the nose to sign him, but they've got the money and a new ballpark next year. Great deal for a team that I hate. But, you can scratch 3 or 4 sure wins off Santana's total every year because he doesn't get to pitch against the other Sox anymore.
