If scouts were interested in drafting you, would they still be coming to your games at this time. I here of scouts at a lot of other games, but they are no longer coming to my sons. When he hit 94 on the radar gun of a professional scout we really thought the interest would pick up. There was only 1 scout at the game at that time and we thought maybe the word would spread. Scouts came to one more game and then never again (wasn't a good game). Is it time to be realistic and just chalk it up to another great experience? Or do we just not understand the process?

No Way ...

Since your son plays in Texas, and that is one of the states that has so much talent and so many prospects, I wouldn't worry too much. There are a ton of games going on right now at all levels ... high school, JUCO, and 4 year schools ... and the scouts have a lot of territory to cover and prospects to see.

Someone our son trusts told him not to worry about the fact that there were now just a few scouts in the stands ... most everybody who wants to has seen him and they are now at the high school and JUCO games. The scouting activity will pick up again as the draft gets closer.

Bottom line, as I know some of our posters have probably stated before ... just be sure your son's "ducks are in a row" as far as advancing his education after he gets out of high school and don't worry about the other stuff for now.

I am a strong believer that God is in control and He knows what is going to happen for your son. If pro ball is in his summer schedule, it will happen. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the ride and look forward to higher levels of competition at the next level ... no matter where that may be.

That is really great advice H-Mom.

I was at a game pitched by one of the nation's top HS players the other day. Rumored to be a very legitimate 1st round pick. I saw him earlier this year and about 40 scouts at that game. Maybe 10, at most, at this game. Probably fewer.

Was then talking to a coach who's been through this before, he said, this is normal. They'll be back he said. They're off to see other players now and they'll check back in late April or May.

Just all part of the cycle.
In our area many scouts are awaiting psych reports which are now being taken online by some of the prospects. Many are setting up their home visits.
The results of those tests might determine who they might and might not visit anymore.
Here in Florida there is so much baseball between HS, colleges, JUCO's and Universities, they are kept quite busy.
H-mom is correct, get your education ducks ina row and try to enjoy the ride.

I know one of MLB scouts has to cover Texas, Louisianna, and Mississippi while they have 3 scouts in one southern California county --- last year- on the car the MLB team provided the scouts - the front office would not let them have cruise control on his leased cars because they said costs too much -- if you have ever driven through Texas, Lousianna and Mississippi you know it's not a luxury to have cruise control----

---other MLB teams are laying off scouts and are just going by stats when draft---
