Local HS will start play on April 2nd. Most of the snow should be gone by then except for the snow banks. Wisconsin has a spring season and a summer season of which a school can only play one of them. Most of the Milwaukee area schools play in the latter. They are the better teams in the state.Yea we have a spring champion and a summer champion but the fact of the matter is the schools that play in the summer are better prepared.PG has a spring league that those guys participate in prior to their season beginning and it makes a difference. I would like to see only 1 season in Wisconsin.A season say with a beginning of May start date.Would push Legion ball back a little but kids would not be playing any more just in better weather.Travel ball is not really a factor around here.So would not really affect those guys. The few good HS age travel teams around here are late summer/fall travel teams.
First day of tryouts snowed out. No school. My son is at an indoor baseball facility playing pickup baseball with friends. They'll spend hours arguing whether the ball that hit the wall is a flyout or homer. When they're done two high school teammates and he will get in a serious workout. Friend's dad owning a facility: priceless.

Most of the indoor places around here do not have the room...the ones I know about are mainly pitching mounds and batting cages....only one outside of Philly I know about that have full size infield..what town is the facility in.... like to check it out?
It's lanes where the dividing nets can be raised to the ceiling. There isn't an outfield. They don't run the bases. They have ground rules on where the ball hits and how hard it's hit. Grounders have to be fielded cleanly before leaving the infield which is the back net at second base.

Today would be a good day to be related to Cust and have access. Have you been in the dome?
Bad News: There's six inches of snow on the baseball field.

Good News: Starting Friday it's fifty or above for five of the following seven days.

Bad News: It's supposed to rain five of those seven days.

I can't imagine when the field will be ready. It doesn't look good for next week's scrimmages. Opening day is the 20th.
I feel all of your pain. Lived in Indiana my whole life up until 2 years ago. Now live in Tampa, FL. It is amazing to me that the people here wear winter coats when the high is 60. We've been playing ball since the first of February. My son said the other day how he remembers practicing in his coach's pole barn in Indiana and it was below zero...he said, what were we thinking?
I found out this weekend the high school program has a new artificial turf field for practice. The rest of the high school knows it as the parking lot.

The snow melted this weekend. The field is a bit wet. The forecast for tonight: rain, Monday: rain, Tuesday: rain, Wednesday: rain. I'm guessing no scrimmages this week.
