Growth spurts are weird. Literally, one day you wake up and the boy is taller than you. I've had a half-inch on my 15 yr old for a good 5-6 months, and now - just today - he's eye to eye with me, and actually a shade taller. Just overnite. Boom. Done. I guess osteoporosis is next. I'm ordering my walker now.

I envy you, Krak. Whether it was the genes from my wife's side [although she is 5'7"] or his Crohn's/Rheumatoid Arthritis or the meds for same, Junior stopped sprouting 2 yrs ago and has been stuck on 5'10", close to being level with is 2 sisters. 6'1" ain't doing me squat anymore - wish I could lend him a few!! AT 18, I think he's done, although I give him hope, telling him that David Robinson grew 5 inches while in the Naval Academy!
Krak I'm with ya on the growth spurts thing. I'm only 5'6" and my husband is 5'4" so my 6'1" 16 yr old, who gets his height from my dad and my brothers, is much taller than either of us but we still notice when he has a growth spurt.

There are days when my sleepy kid stumbles out of his room in the morning in boxers and a tshirt, with his hair a mess and his eyes half closed and you can just tell he somehow looks taller. And if you have him stand against the doorjam with all pencil marks from previous measurements - sure enough he did gain a 1/2 an inch or so in his sleep. Its just a wierd sensation to look at him and have your brain saying I'm pretty sure he wasn't that tall yesterday....

Cmom03 - that scout was just plain cruel!

Kmom, this is EXACTLY how it happened, right down to the attire!! And I took him straight to the doorjam!! That's too funny!! Monitoring our kids growth is very much universal!
