I have great news about the "TBA" coaches for our camps:

August 4 in Katy: Jeremy Fikac - Top Asst. and Recruiting Coordinator at TX State.

August 5 in Georgetown: Kevin Brooks - Head Coach at Angelo State.

Please note that Scott Malone will be at both of these. He's the head coach at A&M - Corpus.

August 11 in Trophy Club (Byron Nelson HS): Chris Rateike - Head Coach at Hill College. I am looking to add another coach still at this camp.

There is currently room at all 3 camps (48 camper limit strictly enforced or we cannot do all we do by 5:00)

Thanks.

When looking for an upcoming showcase in the next couple of weeks you may be considering a couple of different options. Some showcases offer over 20 college coaches and more exposure. Coach Traub's showcase may not have the volume of coaches but the feedback and execution at his showcases are second to none. There is no time wasted standing around and the college coaches are focused on the players and evaluating talent. Also the price and value of the showcase is better than any other you will find. I am interning with Coach Traub so I am biased but I attended many showcases when I was in high school and Coach Traub's showcase was the most effectively run and I received quality feedback on what my strengths and weaknesses were. Some showcases neglect to give back any feedback at all. I enjoyed my experience and I know other players will as well.
I am flattered that Cody and two college softball players volunteered their time for the chance to be interns for me this summer. They are great future coaches.

I have been around baseball as a coach for 20 years now. I know that parents put a lot of time, energy, and money into baseball and I'm just trying to give value back. If I don't succeed, I hope and expect people to let me know. Here's my thought process with this camp:

1) Keep the price somewhat reasonable. $100 is more to some than others and we do offer need-based assistance, but this is clearly less than other camps.
2) Get everything we need to do done in one day. I don't like wasting people's valuable time.
3) Get college coaches from different levels of the game. If you impress 1 JuCo coach, you're probably going to impress most of them. If 1 DI coach likes you, you'll probably have multiple opportunities if you know how to shop yourself. I try to get you exposure at this camp to DI, DII/NAIA, DIII, and JuCo.

I have added Shane Shewmake to the camp staff in Ft Worth on August 11. Head coach at UTD.

I try to get head coaches whenever possible.

Give every kid written feedback so if they don't get a follow-up letter or phone call from the college coaches, they'll know why!

Give every kid an opportunity to show what they can do -at multiple positions if they really play multiple positions. Get each kid at least 2 ABs in the scrimmages. If he walks, he stays and hits again. Every pitcher throws at least 15 live pitches to batters. All college coaches are watching every at-bat of every scrimmage.

Give every kid quality instruction -- and let the college coaches interact/teach so they can tell if they like working with a particular guy.

Don't have guys standing around doing nothing. The only time there's waiting around at my camps is for the first 90 minutes during the pro-style tryout.

Limit the size of each team and the entire camp.

Include the mental skills training, of course.

Include a recruiting workshop to answer parents' questions.

Treat the coaches great so they want to work my camps.

If you've been to my camp in the past, I hope you'll leave a note hear or privately with me on how I'm doing.
Great camps this weekend in Katy and Georgetown. Here's an excerpt from an email I got this morning from a camper:

"Hopefully I'll be able to attend more of your camps in the future. The schools/coaches you had there really made it fun and the format was a lot more fun that others I've been to."

This Saturday's camp at Byron Nelson HS currently has 6 spots left. Max is 48 campers.

THanks.

Thanks, Gametimer. I will try to adjust the schedule/communications to allow more time to warm up arms.

Camp this Saturday is full.

Here are a couple other email notes I've received about last weekend's camps:

"Coaches, thanks for the camp today. It was great. I appreciate the work and drills you all did to help Brandon."

"Coaches - wanted to provide some feedback and extend my Thanks on a camp recently attended at Faith West by my son.

Informative, Interactive and positive. He has attended a couple of others labeled Showcase or other and this was by far the best.

Money well spent."

The next round of Coach Traub camps will be December 1, 2, and 8. Reminder: you can get camp updates and FREE Mental Skills Tips emails by signing up in about 14 seconds here

Thank you.

Just received the feedback from Coach Traub's camp. I wanted to wait to comment on the camp until I received the final step of the camp. Let me start by saying, the fields at Byron Nelson were flooded, but that was the only disappointment of the day. The staff at Byron Nelson and Coach Traub's staff did not miss a beat. The camp went on and the flooded fields were a memory. My son really enjoyed the camp and the feedback is what we needed. We have a chance to clean some things up before we go to larger camps. This camp is a must if you have never attended a showcase for individuals. I agree with Coach Traub's comment at the end of his camp. If your skills are not showcase ready, use the money to improve your skills. It could mean taking lessons or a condition course. How do you know if your skills are ready? Attend this camp. It was a great investment. We will be attending the larger showcases as well, but we know where we stand for now. My son is in the 2014 class. A must for young players that may not know or accept where their talent may rate compared to others.
