Did a search on this and saw a post from 2008 with zero replies so I am going to ask this question again.

Has anyone gone to the Showtime Sports Baseball or Softball showcases in the MN/WI area and what are your thoughts?  I am looking specifically on how well it is run, is there a write up/video that is posted online on metrics/technique/play, are there any college coaches at the event and is it regional or national?

I went to their website and it looks like they do metrics followed by a game and give you a t-shirt but no other information.  They have a list of colleges that have attended past events and the top performers from the MN and WI showcases square off in a border battle showcase later in summer.  Thanks.

We've considered it but are just too busy with other stuff that takes a higher priority (travel tournaments, college camps, a PBR Showcase) for my kid this summer....

I get the feeling that this Showcase was the big dog in this area before PBR & Perfect Game took over & dominated.  They don't post results online or have any videos, and I don't really know if college coaches attend.

I do know one kid who did this Showcase in WI, didn't do any other Showcases, and ended up on Hamline's roster (D3 in Minnesota), so there is that... They do at least play games at this Showcase, which PBR doesn't do...

Hope that helps.  Wish I could be more informative than that.

My 2017 went his Jr and Sr years, 3 and 4 years ago.  Back then, it was awesome.  It was a 2 day showcase back then and there seemed to be about 50 colleges (maybe more).  I thought it was extremely worth it as my son received several offers from local D3s immediately after each day.

HOWEVER, My 2020 went last year (Jr year) and it was different.  You picked only 1 day (2 days offered, pick 1).  There were not nearly the colleges there.  Maybe 15 on the day we went.  Completely different in terms of exposure.  I don't know if that was just a bad year or if the coaches simply stopped going but what was once a sure fire showcase is now something we're considering.  As 3and2 said, we'll probably go if we have no other options since its fairly local and he gets local coverage.  Maybe it was just a down year or the coaches came dressed as civilians.

There is no write up on the player, but you will get all their measurables.  Mainly regional coaches from WI, MN, IL.  It is a well run showcase.  Like I said, we really liked it before they changed format from a 2 day event to a 1 day event.

I thought this showcase was definitely used more by the D3s in the region, which is good during the process of getting your name out there.  As I said, very good several years ago, not sure now.  There are still around 15 coaches in attendance.  That's still not bad for the money (I believe around $275?).  Its just that there were a lot more before.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info 3and2 & Daddy.  The lack of online metrics, video and write up is a negative.  However, the game component and the possibility of being selected for the border battle teams (exposure to WI & IL schools) are pluses.  I think this might be a better option for my 21’ next summer as opposed to this year.

Good point 3and2 regarding the impact that PBR/PG is having on this event which I think aligns with Daddy’s observations.  MN PBR offers underclass and upperclass showcase/games during the summer too.  Last year was MN PBR’s inaugural year for the underclass games and 20 D1 schools were in attendance based upon their advertising but didn’t mention which schools.
