I'm sure that Houston baseball fans know all about Lamar HS, but its noteworthy success this season is news to me (and perhaps DFW readers as well). The following article can be found at http://www.houston5abaseball.com/

The Langham Creek Lobos were pushed to the brink of elimination by a very s******, and young Cinco Ranch Cougars team over the last weekend. The Lamar Redskins on the other hand emphatically dispatched their first round opponent (MacArthur Generals) with a barrage of powerful bats and golden arms.
The powerful Redskins' offense outscored their opponent 28-1 in a two game sweep and now brings their lumber into the area round against the Lobos. Leading the way for Lamar at the plate is senior infielder Anthony Rendon (Rice) who is sporting a (.583) batting average with (5) home runs, (8) triples, (21) doubles, and an amazing (50) RBI. Senior infielder Peter Goudeau leads the Skins in the power department bashing out (9) home runs, and matching Rendon with (50) RBI while posting a (.467). Senior Andy Maas has piled up (25) RBI on the season while senior Gonzales added (20) of his own with (3) home runs and (6) doubles. (400) plus hitters are of abundance throughout the Lamar line up. In fact, the Redskins have eight players hitting (.425) or better. Michael Resnick checks in at (.476), with Kevin McKee at (.459), Scott Erzinger at (.455), David Bracht at (.448), Shane Struska at (.429), and Cody Horr at (.425). Just four points off of the pace is freshman sensation Cole Lankford at (.396).
That's not all the Lobos have to concern themselves with as Lamar also possesses a high quality pitching staff lead by junior right handed pitching sensation Neal Dennison. Dennison has posted a lofty (9-0) record with a very impressive (.98) ERA and (66) strike outs in (43.6) innings pitched. Senior Peter Goudeau has posted a (6-1) record with a (1.91) ERA while Junior Tyler Duffie sports a (4-0) record and senior Scott Erzinger sits at (3-2) with (34) strike outs in (50.3) innings pitched.
Lamar enters their area round match up standing at (26-4) and has not lost a contest since a (11-9) defeat to the Bellaire Cardinals on April 7th. Since that loss they are on a nine game winning streak outscoring their opponents (124-to-11).
