Thanks Driller,

I was familiar with the story of Towny but didn't realize that it was the early 90's when he started his program. Thought that it was the late 90's.

Papi,

Your point in regards to playing one sport year round is a very good one!  Thinking back, most of the competitive baseball players I recall, did in fact, play more than one sport at the varsity level.

Regarding the ED, I viewed the main point to question whether or not Anderson faced quality hitters.  Not whether the old SED is similar to the current ED.  Due to smaller districts, in general, there was more scheduling against outside competition.  No different than today, your No. 1 still threw against the best teams.  Bottom line...the dude was very good, and he faced quality hitters on a regular basis.

GB 11   Lakeland 0

Lakeland  0R, 2H, 2E

GB 11R, 11H, 2E

This game was a combination of great pitching from Logan Harrelson and hitting from Charlie Cody.  Logan pitched a complete game 2 hitter while Charlie Cody hit 3 home runs and drove in 7 runs.

Logan struck out 3 and Cody hit a solo hr in the 3rd, 2 run shot in the fourth and a walk off grand slam in the 5th to make it 11-0.

Lakeland:

#18 1-2, double

#21, 1-2, single

GB:

C.Hinkle  2-3, 2 singles

C.Cody 3-4, 3 homeruns

K.Mathews 1-2, single

A. Newell 1-1, double

E.Nittenger 1-3 single

C.Mathews 2-2, single, double
