There will be many opportunities in the spring, and the money might well be the same.

But some programs will indeed commit their entire budgets in November. So some schools will cease to be options for you.

I wouldn't sweat that too much, though, there are a lot of potential fits for each player and unless he really had his heart set on one particular place, hopefully he can still generate enough solid options for a happy ending.
I would apply to every college on your final wish list, It may cost a little bit, but if a team comes a calling and your already accepted it makes it easier on the coaches, I learned that at a SDSU camp. Also, as far as private school need based money (FAFSA that can far outweigh baseball money) is doled out early to applicants. We know because our son got recruited and signed in May of his Senior year to a private CA school. The offer was all baseball and minimal at best, and had we applied earlier, our needs were 3 times what the baseball team could offer.
justakid, good question, haven't gotten that far yet. Will have to discuss that with the coaches of the schools who are waiting on first quarter grades, and new SAT scores before they will make an offer. He had a rough start to high school, along with some issues with the school lagging getting approval on some courses with NCAA.(New HS and the principal never resubmitted some hold/denied classes) College coaches, along with us have adjusted his schedule to get extra core classes in, just incase the newly submitted ones get denied again. Lesson learned never take the word of guidance, check yourself with NCAA.
We are going to look at a JUCO tomorrow as another option, trying to stay calm and continue looking at all options.
The Juco coach did offer my son scholarship money, so that is a good thing. We were honest about looking at all options and he understood our situation. Very nice campus, but son is not 100% sure and wants to continue the search.
I know he wants to look at a JUCO in FL, he so wants warmer climate.. can't really blame him with the cold weather starting.
