Here is a great article about Strength Bands from Exercise Physiologist and Motor Learning Specialist Dorian Brito. We worked together in NYC and he is a great guy to bounce ideas off of in terms of training movement patterns that will help transfer into practice and game situations for youth athletes. There are tons of band exercises out there and numerous places to purchase them, but I have a feeling that the basis behind why we use them is not fully understood. Bands are a great tool to implement in any training setting not only for the youth population but for all levels. Check out this article.
