I just said goodbye to my student teacher. (2nd in two years) He did a fanstastic job and has asked to volunteer coach this season. He was hired by our school board as a substitute. He is now eligiable to serve as a volunteer coach. For all of you that want to serve in this capacity, the IHSA allows both substitutes and student teachers to serve as volunteers provided they are approved by the local school board. Not a bad way for them to gain experience while you also gain help.

TRHit, you said better in few words what I was trying to say for anyone doing their student teaching. I know SIBullets is a great coach and he states that this is the way he chose to get his first exposure. I do think that some people entering the education field don't feel like they know enough and so, miss out on a great opportunity.

BTW, this is how I started as well!
