If you look at some of the rosters for the USOTB (jerseyshore league)you will see a mix of current high school players, current college players and players who have been out of school for years.I have always heard mixed reviews about the league. The ABCCL bridge league is only in its 2nd year I think but I can not say enough good things about what she does in all of the leagues she puts together, she seems to do it all for the right reasons. My son will play in the bridge league this year so we may end up running into each other.
How far up north are you?
Bergen County. My Mom spends summers in Point Pleasant so I'm sure my son wouldn't mind spending some time down in the shore area this summer. My son played in the ABCCL fall league when he was a junior with his club team and we attended the NJ Shore Shootout showcase this past fall with the same team. As you say, Monique does a great job with all the leagues she runs. The travel isn't too bad as long as you avoid the weekends late in the mornings. He is definately leaning towards the bridge league too.
We also have the North Jersey Majors and the NJABL up in this area as well a Westchester County league -- WRWBL, which are all 18+ leagues and sound similar to the USOTB. Most teams are pretty hard to break into with established players.
