While we are all sitting around waiting for post season play, and for summer ball to begin I thought I'd ask for some good summer ball stories that either you and/or your son have experienced. Or some other player you know.

Maybe it could be a player who didn't play much during his school's spring season only to go play summer ball and get picked up as a NDFA that summer from busting out.

Or a player who was noticed by a larger school and they wanted him.

A bit off track but trying to keep your thread alive...

We're in a very small town where you typically have to travel far to get to anywhere, certainly including competitive travel and summer ball. Our HS field is in a great setting, but up until a few years ago, was a very mediocre facility and field. We've done a ton of work and now have a facility that every school loves to come to.
Well, it's Cabbage's senior year and time for him to figure out summer college ball. Along comes a team with steep history but lost it's home a few years back (from about an hour down the highway). Board approved, contracts signed, a full schedule of games lined up, all at home - at our HS field, about a long par 5 away from our house. Cabbage signed his contract a few weeks ago. During last fall scout season, we averaged seven hours travel every weekend. This will be a two minute drive or a nice bike ride. Sure feels good to me.

Back during my son's second year at Fayetteville on the 4th of July, which has the higest attendance all year with over 5000 fans, the Swampdogs were in extended innings.

By now everyone is really ready for the fireworks display, which is awesome every year, and we are into the 13th inning.

Anyway Eric gets up to the plate and drives a nice line drive into the left center gap for a walk off double! The team mobbed him out by 2nd base and the fans went wild!

That was his first walk off hit. Fun times in Fayetteville.

My son got two players from his college placed there this year, one with his former host family. He got 3 players spots up there last year.

Summerball in Fayetteville was some of the most enjoyable baseball he has ever played. He has never played 3 years in a row anywhere else!
