I would just say that OPRF's Ledbetter knows how to deal with these issue's and evidently other's don't.
Why would a coach deny a player a chance to play in the biggest national event of the summer?
At OPRF we actually had this come up. Unless its the playoff's it's a no brainer for goodness sake. Our kids are playing at the highest level possible, which also allows others to get PT in the summer.
soxnole,
I agree with you. Summer ball is for giving the incoming varsity squard an opportunity to get PT to show the coach what they can do. They already know what the guys going to these tournaments can do. The coaches I know have no issues with this. It is a great opportunity.

Our 17u team had to take a pass on the WWBA 18u event due to the advesarial relationship it created with the High School coach and the player. It's a shame for the player.
The players are those who are caught in the middle. Life isn't always fair and sometimes you just have to decide.
Gentlemen......
Your 'posts' today were right on target!!! Thanks for putting things in perspective!!!!
Your 'posts' today were right on target!!! Thanks for putting things in perspective!!!!
This has been said on other threads but needs to repeating. The key regarding this issue is COMUNICATION! The PLAYER, high school coach, travel coach, and parents have to create a dialogue, especially if it involves a pitcher, the earlier the better. Problems start creating expectation that can not be met.
Unfortunately, many players are somewhat uncomfortable asking a coach about travel opportunities. Just as unfortunately, there are way too many coaches that have trouble communicating with thier own players, let alone parents.
This is why the [hsbaseballweb] is such a great place. We can only hope that coaches, players and parents read some of these posts and wind up as better communicator's and...in so doing...coaches especially, become better leaders and administrators!
If only 1 coach, parent or player benefits from reading these posts, we have achieved at least a modicum of success.

I thought Brian Lambert and Pat Grady played for the Illinois Orioles. There must have been a signing bonus????
Looks like a player agent might be able to make a living at this.
We have Dillon Roark on our roster also and have been in constant contact so his name on their roster is news to me.

How about I put Dillon on my roster and we all can have him then. lol
one big roster and everyone can share.
Sure Deuce and while were at it send me a lefty and Redmond down here.
Things sure have changed since my son played years ago. With all these high tech traveling teams kids sure learn the mechanics like never before, but I wonder if this replaces getting the time in on the field.
Where as my son didn't have a personal coach for all the little things, I'm thinking playing most of the day, 6-8 hrs almost all year long made him a better player then what any coach could have done for him at half hour intervals.
Of course we lived down south in those days.
My grandson has shown interest in playing a higher level then in house. We are in a NW burb and really don't know where to turn.
Fastball (if you're out there today) I recall you saying you are NW too, could you suggest a team my son check out or his son? What team is your son playing for?

Ozzie...a Sox fan....asking for my help. Hmmm...well....
Depends on the kid, and how old he is. If he is really gung-ho and is ready for it, there are several options in Full-Time Travel at any age. His town probably has such a team. McHenry Hurricanes, Northwest Travelers Top Tier and various others are out there at different age groups. At 13-14 you have Niles Renegades and many others. Check out USA Sports rankings to see who is listed. I guess if he is under 13, I'd start with the local teams. It would be helpful if I knew his age. Any one else care to comment?
My son is older and this year he will play for Barrington American Legion and will possibly hook up with another team looking for pitching when that ends or as time allows later in the summer.

Ozzie, would really have to know the age of the player as each program depends on the age and who would be doing the coaching.
I took the rankings from the PBR and cross checked them against the summer traveling teams posted in this thread. This should give you an idea where you can see this talent in one venue during the summer. Please keep us posted if any of these teams get together and play during the week.

Smokey,
you da man!! Not to confuse your "system" , the top 4 Sparks(that you listed) and Wunderlick from that team will be hanging around the Orioles at our National events.
So you can put them on our "sometimes".
