Any opinions on this event? I have been invited but is this something that they just send to anyone that has been to their showcases? I am still awaiting scouting report from the ID showcase I did in January. I am here in Maryland so is it worth the plane down there for only 1 day of games?

Yeah, I got an invitation in the mail a couple days ago, and I have no idea how I got it. I've never been to a showcase and I've never played in a high profile tournament, nothing of the sort. I did got to the Princeton summer camp, but I wasn't in the older showcase group because I was only on JV, but a couple of the coaches there did talk to me. I still have no idea where the invitation came from though, but it did make me feel pretty proud.

Also, I was checking out some profiles online from other perfect game showcases, and I noticed very few people look happy at all in their pictures. Is this serious attitude everywhere at the showcases? It just seemed kind of weird to me because I picture myself having a lot of fun if I went to one. I mean, you're surrounded by some of the best baseball players in the nation, it just seems like it would be fun. Full of pressure, yes, but still fun.
Perfect Game runs a good show. Showcases, especially good ones like PG, are a very good experience. My son had a lot of fun, met players from all over the country, and very quickly could see where he stood in the pecking order. You need to see outstanding talent and play against it, to determine where you stand.

One of the memories I'll forever carry is the mental picture of my 2003 LHP son (now in college) coming off the field laughing with some teammates at the Blue-Grey Showcase at William and Mary; he had a look of absolute joy on his face and he was clearly enjoying life to the max. Warm sun, green grasss, good baseball, big smile...hard to forget.
unknown- I attended the National Underclass in Fort Myers and they are just mug shots they don't reflect what goes on on the field. I had a ton of fun playing at PG and the kids were all nice and were all good ball players. It is very serious though, kids parents don't want to pay 500$ plus travel expenses to have a blast, they want college exposure and a good performance from their son to get a good rating and scouting report.
Unknown,

My 04 son attended one PG event, and his "mug shot" looks serious also, but he loved the event! He is more in the "projectable" category, not a top prospect at least for now, but he still enjoyed the challenge, and "rubbing elbows" with some future draft picks. Any Perfect Game event will be first class.

I asked my kid about his serious mugshot on the PG site. He said he had just ran the 60 and he went straight from the finish to get the pic taken.

The PG showcase event was worth it tho, my kid had a good time and got to see some real good ballplayers. My advice to anybody going to the PG Underclass Showcase... you better be in very good baseball condition.
My son attended his first showcase last month, an ID Perfect Game event. The postings still have not been made on their site but my son just received an invitation to the Sunshine East Showcase. We're going for a couple of reasons. First, my son is only a 2007 and he and I want him to be on the field with many top 2005's to let him see what he needs to do to reach the next level.Second is that getting used to this type of showcase now ,will, I hope, make it easier for him to perform at his peak level in the next 3 years. We first talked to his summer travel coach and asked how he felt about my son missing a weekend with the team. I was grateful that he told us to go, do well, and that we've got an entire summer to be playing. Imagine the response if this question was posed to some of the HS coaches I've been reading about on these pages.
We sent our invitation a few days ago, this will be our first perfect game showcase, where is a good place to stay and do we need to get there a day early or something. right now we are planning to drive (16 hrs). can someone give me a overview of what is gonna happen at the pg east sunshine showcase. thanks

My son got invited to both Sunshine East and Unsigned Senior, and we are going to the Unsigned Senior, but as far as hotels, I found a Quality Inn practically right next to the baseball complex for considerably less than the host hotel or any of the other hotels the host travel agent quoted me. Check out choicehotels.com

We are driving as well, but it's about 14 hours for us. We're driving in the day before, or if his summer baseball schedule allows, we'll drive down Sunday as far as Orlando, and spend Monday at Disney, then drive on down to Ft. Meyers Monday night.
