I tried one of these a number of years ago and it didnt do much for us.

I now use a product called a Puddle Pillow. Much easier to use, much more affordable.

I've never tried either of those items so I cannot comment on how effective they are. I do have a question though - if the field has drainage issues would it be possible to try a more permanent solution? If you could put some french drains in and connect to an existing creek or open area it would solve a ton of problems.

Granted it's not a cheap solution but it would be worth it in the long run.

They use one of those two models at Cooperstown Dreams Park. It rains there basically everyday.

I watched them use that on infield with standing water. Darndest thing I've ever seen. Worked VERY well.

They use a special combination of materials in their infields that basically does not create mud when wet but it soaked the water right up.

So I'd say it would remove the water very effectively but can't say that it would dry the ground underneath it.

We bought 20 Puddle Pillows for our Babe Ruth League and what we've saved in drying material has more than paid for them. In fact, we've only used about 8 of them and they are very reusable. Wish I had discovered them years ago!
