However a short compact swing provides more time to determine if a pitch should be swung at or not.
A pitch middle out to off the plate could be well hit deeper in the zone.

Hey everyone. I made some of the tweaks we talked about today during some BP.(esp.with the thrusting of the hips.) This was a swing my friend took on her Iphone. Looking any better?
Your swing looks very good to start. Don't overthink it. Keep getting reps in like you are doing. ![]()
you swing with your arms..that will be a problem as pitching gets faster and better.
try using your HANDS more and release them THRU the ball..GET WRISTY.
top hand drill only, try setting up a tee and grabbing a smaller bat that u can handle with one hand..put your left hand on your chest boob area..learn to build bat speed with the top hand..try not to use your arms when powering the ball
go on you tube and search for My Hitting drills.MOV..good drills on using your hands
My guess is your K's are either when you're taking or swinging & missing on pitches lower in the strike zone?
I think it's because your swing is a bit stiff and controlled and the bat doesn't "whip" through the zone as much as you seem to 'pull" it or "guide" it through the zone?
Your follow-through really tells me that.
This happens to a lot of kids as they try to "find the ball" with the bat, instead of seeing it
and trusting the hands!
As has been said, let the lower half provide the propulsion, and let the hands drive through.
Loosen up the shoulders & hands and I think you'll make better contact.
Secondly, your back side load is really going to make you susceptible to the off-speed stuff. Get a better rhythm and stay back a bit longer.
Now follow me on this:
My guess is that your bat speed is fairly slow because you are restricting the swing with your arms & hands providing too much of the force.
So, to compensate, you load quicker and get out on your front side too soon.
(see pop-up on first video)
Sometimes, you can get away with that on a pitch up and out over the plate. (like the one the guy threw you on a 1-2 count)
But in on you is going to be a pop-up, and low and away is going to be a K or a ground ball to SS or 2nd.
If you use the lower half better, you will overcome that and the swing will be looser and easier but quicker through the zone.
Good Luck, and remember:
"Trust the Hands"
Please stop the 3-0 fake bunt.
Higher velocity will probably get you. I will add this, at toe touch, I feel your bat is too flat and wrapped around your head (in the BP swing). This causes you to get "long" (and slow) when velocity is cranked up. You didn't show that during the game swings so I am not sure if you do/don't do this regularly.
Forgot to comment on the 3-0 fake bunt.
Umpires hate it!
They also hate it when you do it with the intent of distracting the catcher on a steal.
It will be a strike the majority of the time.
Use the 3-0 as a chance to see another pitch from your regular stance.

First Scrimmage yesterday. Ugly Dying quail to right field. Bad swing? Scored in an exciting way aswell. Cheers to the HS season being upon us.

Pitching was just really slow that day. I harly ever ''Wrap''. The Offspeed got to m yesterday.
I know a few people said this, would happen. I did strike out on a offspeed pitch yesterday. Way out in front. How should I correct this? Wait back on my back leg longer?

Hard to guage much as your first swing was poor as you did not read the pitch well. That pitch was low and hard to hit. With respect to wrap of bat, I don't see that as an issue at all in your scrimmage video. You could actually get a slightly better load with your hands and get the knob of the bat more focused on the catcher to get a better angle of your bat to increase the ultimate whip during the swing. Your bat angle is not bad though.
Did see on both of your swings that your front foot was not down before you initiated your hands. You are dead on off speed pitches if the hands start driftng before you get that front foot down. Need to be able to work against that front foot/firm front side to slow your hands/body down and adjust if you are fooled on an off speed pitch. Only chance you have to get a decent swing on it, which you did not do.
Keep working hard!

Most of the time I don't even feel it. So keep the hands up longer?

I know it's been awhile. Summer ball is about to start. Here is a new AB. We played the 10. seed as we we're the 1. seed.

My Skill's video just came out. I would appericate any feedback. (how to make plays look cleaner etc)
I would clean it up a bit and get rid of the fielding error...
