Ok HSBASEBALLWEBers Our conference tourn is to be held this week in Dyersburg,TN Play-in games start Friday and the double elim starts Sat. I will be attending and invite anyone interested in spending an afternoon enjoying baseball to come check it out.

I may be a little antsy and wander the complex alot on Sunday during my own sons trip to the bump but promise to talk baseball with whoever any other time.

Go Chatt state!
Nice to meet and Chat a little while YoungGunDad.

Josh looked pretty good yesterday after having most of the spring off injured. A little quicker action by the coach would have been helpful. I could tell that his mechanics started to change as he tired. But as with most of the coach's I watch here in this league they just hesitate to get into the bullpen. And most wait way way to long to have anyone even start to play catch to even loosen up their muscles.

Received word late last night that they are going to delay Mathews start till tomorrow. Not sure why but speculate that they might be looking ahead and want to throw him against Walters provided they and us both win today.

As with all dads and former coach's it's our job to question, complain and dissect our kids coach's decisions. You know the same thing that the parents do to us if we had the coaching uniform on.
Look forward to coming out in a few hours and watch your guys play.
I left my phone in the room and tried to find you while we played against Motlow State in the elimination game. I'm sure you were there! lol. It got crowded when all the other teams showed up for the awards ceremony following our marathon of a game. We jumped on Motlow early scoring 7 runs in the 1st inning and they never really mounted much of threat as we went on to win 16-8. We now await the loser of the Dyersburg-Walters State game to be played tomorrow (Monday) at 2pm.

I just hope the rain that is coming in either misses us or is light. I'll have to leave immediately after the game and it looks like Im going to be getting in real late.

It was awesome getting to meet you Tim. Hopefully Ill see you today at your son's game.
Ha Ken remember what the 95% chance that you would be playing Dyersburg state. Well we play the game because of the 5%. Never thought I would see Will Scott get hammered like that. although when I showed up he was doing well shutting them down till the 8th.

I did have a good deal of respect for the Walters State coaches until tonight. There was a parent? Keeping a book on Dyersburg states side and when they finally went to get Will he jumped up and yelled "It's about time he only threw 161 pitches"
To me that is abuse of an arm not use of it. to his credit he was still hitting the low 90's into the 7th but still.....You dont do that to a kid especially when you are that far behind or ahead.

Anyway good luck I should be there to watch your game. And look for you then.

Josh called me from the game and was standing right behind the Tusculum coach who was gunning him. He said the highest he had seen Will hit was 89 up to that point (5 inning). Of course, I'm sure he can throw much harder.

161 pitches? That is almost sickening. I wonder if the scorekeeper was exaggerating and was just upset and yelled out the first number that popped in his head...?? Who knows.

I'm sitting here in the hotel room looking outside and watching the rain come steadily down. I'm thinking not much baseball will be played today.

You guys are in the drivers seat. I am pulling for you guys. Ya'll will play either Middle Ga or Gordon College if you do make it. They play this weekend for the Ga championship.

The GJCAA has taken 3 weekends to play their playoffs to determine a Champion and hasnt had to worry any about starting pitching each series. Their starters are fresh are ready to go. The TJCAA could learn much from this approach.
Well Ken I fig you were in bed but I would catch you up...

Started our injured pitcher Will and he lasted 3 1/3 leaving with the bases loaded down 3-1.
Enter Mathew,,,, Never has mastered the reliever role. 1st pitch hits the knob of the bat goes to the screenrunners move up and HPU didnt see it.4-1
Threw strike one to next batter then flinched for no reason balikng in the next run.5-1 Strikes out the next batter.Gets to 1-2 on the next guy and throws a 55 foot curve gets past the catcher runner scores 6-1. Strikes out the next guy.

Next inning goes 0-2 on batter then throws curve that hit back foot. Next batter walks I think. 1st and 2nd no outs.pop up out 1. base hit runner score and 1st and third. Passed ball run scores. 8-1 Strike out on dropped third strike we get the out runner moves to third. week grounder knocked down runner safe and run scores.9-1 another k so after 5 we are down 9-1. Mathew pitches great and we chip away going to the top of the 9th we are down 9-7. we put the 1st two on and hit a 3 run dinger now we are up 10-9 and add one more 11-9.

Mathew heads to the mound bottom of the ninth and before the first warm up pitch lighting off in the distance and we are in a 30 minute delay. A few minutes later and another lighting strike and then they decide to call the game until the morning. ARG
Will text you the results.
One game for all the marbles... After losing yesterday we watched Walters State beat Dyersburg State 13-5 today to set up a one game winner moves on game tomorrow at 1pm Central. They have their 2,3,4 guys and we have everyone but our injured #2 guy. And our #6 that threw yesterday. But each may be able to come in for a batter or two if needed.

Surely they cant beat us 5 of 5??? this season !

Thanks but..... Gotta play the game. If they win then they deserve it. All around. Conference champion and tourn champion.

I did forget to mention that the player of the year in the conference got tossed in his second at bat yesterday. There are some things you just don't say to an umpire and he said it. At first blue ignored him and was letting him walk away until he opened his mouth again. Quick toss. Quick chuckle for me but more importantly I think it a valuable lesson for him as he goes on. And the effect of him not in the line-up. 2 errors by his replacement and one of the most potent bats in the conf not playing.

I hope someone pointed out how his behavior effected his team.

Sorry for the delay in posting the results. I just walked in from the 6 hour drive home. With a cheesie grin the whole way.

Chattanooga State beat Walters State 12-10 in the TJCCAA conference tournament. Go Tigers

The Tiger's will now travel to Southern Georgia to face South Georgia State or Gordon college depending on who wins their championship this weekend.

The winner of that three game set advances to the Junior College world series in Grand Junction Colorado at the end of the month.
Congrats To Chatt State! A truly miracle season given that your team didn't even have a home field all season and had to play away each game. If Im not mistaken, I believe that one of your starters even went down with an injury right before post-season play.

It's amazing to me how Walters can be ranked in the top 10 year in and year out but never seem to win the conference championship as of late. LOL.

One correction Tim. You'll face the winner of Middle Ga College or Gordon College. I'm not a betting man but if I were, I'd say you'll probably face Middle. They're loaded for bear this year once again. I think they're strongpoint this year has been their bats as I kept up with them all year. I don't know much about their pitching staff. Gordon run-ruled Young Harris in the playoff's both games. However, they are young this year. Mostly a freshman team.

Congratulations to Chattanooga State! Hope you make it all the way. I know one player on the team. Met him in Florida a few years back when we were at a tournament. He's a pitcher named Zach. I know a pitcher who will be going to Walters State this fall who played travel ball with my son. And my son is going to Vol State this fall. It's a small world.
Your right I just didnt hear the coach's right. It will be either MGC or GC.

The coach told the team at the start of the season that not having a home firld this year will either make them fold or "Make them tough as nails". These guys are a pretty tough bunch. All but one of our pitchers are nursing sore or injured arms right now so 8 days off will def help. Will is hurt and will not be able to give much in the post season as when we get done he will most likely have surgery. Mathew still is regaining strength and for a few innings at a time shows the reason he was drafted. Max started the game yesterday but did so throwing up part of the buffet he ate the night before hence the reason he only went 1.1.

pl8blkrmom,

Thanks, I would be nice to go all the way and you never know. There is a ton of talent out there even in the JUCO ranks so to accomplish the feat would be... well lets just say challenging. Congrates on your son going to Vol State. Although they had a difficult seaason this year Mike usually does a great job up there. As for the pitcher going to Walters....They do have winning seasons and have been consistantly ranked nationally but... Tell the parents to watch closely.. I'm just saying ! I use to have a lot more repect for Coach Campbell and his staff until what I saw this year and having more in depth conversations with players parents this last week.
Ha wait around a few weeks more until the stalks start topping out. Drive some of the back roads. Watch out for some mighty large deer!

On to tomorrow.... Have a great day and simply relax and enjoy it.

Fill me in later. Did the coach from the school we talked about bring an offer to the table Friday? Going to watch them play Tuesday and he has contacted a few of our kids including mine.
He called and left a message while son was doing his thing at the showcase. I'm sure he'll be in touch with him some during this week between their conference playoff games.

Did you go up today and watch? That's great that he has contacted Matt also. Who knows, maybe both of them can play on the same team next year!

YGD
Yep, went up and watched tonight. Opening round of the NAIA World series regionals. 7 Of our players went also. They leave Thursday afternoon headed to Gordon Cc in Barnesville, Ga and it looks as though at the moment Mathew has the second game on Sat. With 6 lefties in the line up its a good choice if he is on his game.

Coach might be pretty busy this week since they are the host school. But if he calls I would be interested to hear about it. Thier senior lefty threw tonight and he would be a tough kid to replace. Had a 2 hitter going when I left in the 6th with the lead 10-0.

Yeah, that Sr lefty is Gilson. He's like 10-0 through 87IP (before tonite) with a paltry 1.86ERA. He is lights out!

We may go up and catch a game ourselves since it's only like a 2hr drive from here.

Before I forget, good luck this weekend against Gordon. I was quite surprised to say the least that they run-ruled Middle Georgia. They are very young this year but man are they tearing the baseball up this year. I haven't the foggiest about their pitching.
