Sunbelt - Tennessee is the 2005 Junior Sunbelt Champion - TN 8 Oklahoma 1 -
Rob Catapano(Farragut HS) picks up the win with 8 strikeouts while,
Caleb Cotham (Mt. Juliet HS) drives in 4 runs while going 2-3 with a double. With the scored tied 0-0 going into the bottom of the 2nd,
Jeff Lockwood (Knox Halls HS) and
Steve Liddle (Franklin HS) reached on walks. After a strikeout and fielder's choice,
Caleb Cotham drove in the first of five runs scored with 2 outs.
Blake Forsythe (Christian Brothers) followed with an RBI single, and then
Gunter Delashmit (Covington HS) drove in 2 runs with a double to left-center.
Catapano held OK Blue in check and turned the ball over to
Matt Packer (Christian Brothers). Packer set all four batters he faced, and then Team Tennessee responded with 3 more runs a in the bottom of the fifth as
Cotham hit a 3-RBI double scoring
Lockwood,
Steve Liddle, and
Tanner Moore (McCallie School) who all reached on base on balls.
Mark Lamm (Loretto HS) closed the game enticing a 1-6-3 double play and groundout to
Tyler Mathis (Covington HS).
Rob Catapano was selected as the
Most Outstanding Pitcher, and
Gunter Delashmit the
Tournament MVP. Others selected to the
All-Tournament Team were
Tanner Moore and
Alan Wright (Christian Brothers).
