Illinois has had a policy of random drug tests to be administered to those "participating in the state series" (state playoffs) for several years. That is administered by the IHSA, and it is my understanding there is no option if anyone participates in an IHSA sport or activity (band, chess, scholar bowl, etc.) they are subject to testing.

Kids school adopted a drug testing policy for all extracurricular activities as well throughout the school year. I do not see an issue with this. Extracurriculars are extra, they are a privilege and not a right, extending testing as a condition of participation is fine with me.
I dont have a problem testing at all. I think that by requiring athletes to be tested may stem the rising use of PED's among our youth.

Make it random to keep the cost to the school district's down; but require it for any post season and award acceptance.

Then enforce the rules with no exceptions and balanced penalties. Unlike our major sports governing bodies.
