I have a thread going regarding my son pitching for the first time as a high school senior, while also being the team's shortstop. Because of the information you all imparted to me about the dangers of elbow/shoulder injuries to an arm new to pitching, I have stayed on top of him regarding this. Last night he came home and said his elbow hurts differently then it usually does. I normally would have had him ice it and see how it did the next day. Instead, I emailed the coach to let him know about it. He immediately emailed me back saying he didn't know my son's arm was hurting and that he will definately not have him pitch today during tryouts. They don't get together again until Monday. Because of all of your input, we may have stopped something before it became serious. Thanks again one and all.

rbi,
You are most certainly welcome.
You have done your job, becoming informed about the health risks of a young pitcher. And as you can see, the last person they will tell is the coach for fear of not being able to help the team out!
Keep us informed, ice and some aleve may do the trick.
