I read a news tody:
"Yorktown's Zack Stout was selected to "The Best in USSSA Baseball," which selected the standout players on some of the most competitive teams in the country. Stout, a first baseman and outfielder, played for the 14U Indiana Prospects, which went 49-14 with five tournament wins."

I was wondering any parents had received the letter from the Chancellor publication about something like "your son has been selected to be in the inauguration book 'the best of USSSA Baseball'.... you pay $52 to order a book with your son's name, photo and profile in it..."blah blah blah...

I thought it was just a sales pitch and I threw it away. But today I found out a lot of people do take it as an honor. I was surprised, I thought if every
kid can get in with about $60, what's the true value of this book anyway? Am I wrong here?

We got the book along with everybody on our team. We opted not to pay for the honor. I am pretty sure that the only people that will read the book are the relatives of the kids that are in it and all of the people they can get to sit down long enough. But it would be nice for the kid I guess.

I should have said that we got the pamphlet in the mail, not the book. No way would I pay for it.

When my son played USSSA several years ago they also had a "USSSA All-state Team". The coaches got to put whomever they wanted on the team (1 or 2 from each team. And you guessed it, the names of the boys on the team all had the same last names as the coaches of the team for which they played. Our coaches son honestly was the worst player on the team (did not make his high school team), but he was the player from our team every year that made the all-star team. While USSSA does some great things and has provided some good experiences and a place to play some higher level competition, it has always seemed to me to be just about making money. For example, the fact that you do not have to earn your way to their world series - you just buy your way in...
