Which calls are you saying were questionable?
The interference call was boarder line uncatchable. On the catch, the ball clearly hit the ground.

I see what you're saying but I think they got them correct overall. On the interference it has to be called because he came so early that's what made it look like it was uncatchable. If he doesn't interfere when he did then it might be uncatchable but the way it was you can't truly tell.
I think it was a catch because the ball can touch the ground on a completion if it's shown to be controlled. He didn't have a typical definition of control since he didn't have his hands around it but his arms did secure it to his body before it touched the ground.
The questionable call to me was the toss sweep by the Saints - that was just stupid.

That was one of the hardest hitting gamers I have ever seen - both sides.
I have to agree about the rough calls in OT...on the 4th down play, I thought that should have been ruled short upon replay (although a riot would have ensued). I also thought the interference was bad (incidental contact at worst, and probably uncatchable) and I also thought that other pass hit the ground. I didn't care who won, but I did think every 50/50 call went for the Saints in OT.
HOWEVER...had the Vikings not turned the ball over 5 times OR had Brett Favre made the expected veteran play at the end of regulation, this game never goes to OT. So, in the end, the Vikings lost this game, not refs....it's amazing how that works out, isn't it?

I think he had control (trapped against his body) until the very end, but by that point his knee had already touched the turf and that is when the question of control is determined. I thought the ref crew got it right.
I'm with the rest of you...as much as I was pulling for Favre I was surprised with him throwing that last game changing interception. I would not have expected such an experienced veteran to take such a risk...especially since they would have been within Longwell's range had Favre merely tucked it in and managed to gain a few yards on the ground.
Oh well...there's always ice fishing!

He is still the same old Favre--trying to do too much-- he should have tucked it in on the last play, run for as much as he could and let the kicker do his thing---if he doesn't make the kick they go to OT

MN-Mom, There were a lot of smiles on the faces of your neighbor State to the East. Now another team can watch him sit on the fence about retirement and hold that team hostage during the draft and FA portions of the year.
Vikings played a sloppy game and I think that he didn't help their cause, but he certainly did a great job in getting them there.
I think it's time for him to retire.
As far as the superbowl matchup, Jets vs. Vikings would have brought more revenue to Miami, better hyped up game for the media and locals as the Dolphin fans just hate those Jets.

The Super Bowl patrons/ticket buyers are not Miami locals--they come from around the country thus the Miami hatred for the Jets does not really enter the picture

The Vikings turned the ball over twice in their red zone. They turned it over in the Saints red zone. They had too many men on the field (stupid penalty) and then turned the ball over when there was an opportunity to kick a game winning field goal.quote:Originally posted by Tx-Husker:

The Vikings fumbled the ball six times. That's Lions football, not championship football. They were -4 in turnovers. The stats show a long history of -3 kills a team's chances of winning.
Had the Vikings played winning football and not made mistakes in the red zone they would have won at least 34-21. But as Charlie Jones (former NBC commentator) once said, "If it's and buts were candy and nuts every day would be Christmas."
