As many of you know, one of my sons and one of Picked Off's sons played together and were roommates at SF State a few years back.  They became very good friends.  Picked Off and his wife lived in the city and were like Godparents to all five boys rooming together and the families became friends as well.  Son had another one of the roommates join him as his AC this past summer when he coached in the Valley League.  None of this would have happened had Picked Off not struck up a conversation via PM on HSBBW several years ago when he saw some common ground.

I won't rehash the lengthy details but we just had our 3rd annual reunion with most of the gang in tow (13 people squeezed into our modest 3-bdrm home) and we had a blast.  Picked Off and I were watching the guys and discussing that you could tell this is a group that will likely be life long friends and the reunions may continue for a very long time.  This is just one story of thousands, I'm sure, where HSBBW had significant impact on the direction and outcome of players' and families' lives.

Awesome story! What's the significance of the canoe t-shirts?

Hey Mid,

I'll try not to get too long winded but will undoubtedly fail.

When our boys were roomies and playing together, the standing joke among them was that Picked Off and I were online dating each other cuz we met online, had so many common interests and both showed up at many of their games whether or not our wives were able to make it.  So, for the first reunion gathering, we decided to fuel their fire.  We had a canoe sitting in the front yard and we took a silly pic rowing in the grass together.  So, for this year's gathering, Picked Off's wife decided to do reunion shirts and make that pic the theme.

We're in the middle of the Paso Robles wine region so the main activity planned was wine/distillery/brewery tastings.  As we made our rounds (and there were many), we started to make up several different versions of the story behind the pic (EVERYONE asked).

In a day and a half, we also managed ... cornhole, ping pong, wiffle ball, BBQ, swim/jacuzzi, etc. and the youngsters hit the town at night.  Funny to watch the boys and girlfriends with still way too much competitive juice flowing... or maybe it was the juices from the tastings.  The old folks pranked the youngsters and there was retaliation that we are still discovering days later.  Chilled chocolate milk should not be really warm when it hits the back of your throat.

Sounds like you guys are having more fun now than when the boys were playing! Nice work.
