Khris Davis of the A's finished the 2018 regular season with a 0.247 batting average.

No big deal... except for the fact that his 2017 batting average was also 0.247.

And so was his 2016 batting average.

And his 2015 batting average.

Davis somehow managed to become the first player ever to post the same season batting average four consecutive seasons. According to FanGraphs, Mookie Wilson is the only other player to ever do it 3 years in a row, and only 178 players in MLB history have done it two years in a row.

Davis' only other full season in the majors was 2014. He hit 0.244.

And of course in his only postseason game, he went 1-4 (0.250), which is mathematically the closest he could come to hitting 0.247 in a single game (given a reasonable number of ABs in a single game).

And he made $10.5 Million-for being so “consistently average” in 2018

Don't forget 48 homers and 123 RBI with a 135 wrc+.  His average isn't great and he whiffs a lot but he is one of the best sluggers in the game, nobody hit more homers over the last 3 years. 10.5M really were a bargain for his production albeit he really should be a DH only at this point as he is,really  bad in the outfield and has no arm too.

Wholeheartedly agree! Was just trying to be funny....Times have changed from when George Foster banged out 52 HR 149 RBI and hit .320 and I’m sure he didn’t make $10.5 million!
